LIFE WITH A 2 YEAR OLD

As creepy as this sounds Emma and I still take a bath together. I know, I know... we're weird! It was so much easier when she was a baby for Drew to just hand her to me, I'd clean her up and hand her right back to him. And to be totally honest it's still simpler for me to be in the bathtub with her when I give her a bath especially when we wash her hair. Washing her hair is a nightmare, every single night, a nightmare! Anyway, like I said it's easier to hold her down to wash her hair than it is for me to bend over the bathtub.
Since I take a bath with a 2 year every night you can imagine how excited I am when I get to take a bath alone. That happened tonight... kinda. She had gotten so messy during dinner that she needed to take an early bath.
So about 8 o'clock I excitedly announced that I was going to take my bath solo. I headed to my closet to get my pajamas and when I get to the bathroom this is what I see...

... someone had decided they wanted a front row seat to my bathtime. She even brought popcorn to eat while she "kept me company". Oh well... maybe next time.

JUST SOME FUNNIES

I explained a few posts ago about Emma's obsession with the color blue. Well, it has gotten bad... real bad. The other night Emma and I were at WalMart when she sees this blue bra. She screams "MOM, A BUE BAAH!". Jokingly I said "Emma, you want Mommy to buy you that blue bra?". She replies with a giggle "No, Mommy, I don't wear a baah, I just wear my boobies".

A couple nights ago Emma and I went to bed. After a couple minutes she starts yelling "Daddy! Daddy!" at the top of her lungs. He yells back "Yes, Emma, what do you need?". She replies "I just need you to come in here so I can call you a dorkhead".

FUN DAY!

Today we went to West Frankfort Aquatic Center for Aden's 8th birthday. It's been a while since Emma had swam so I was excited to see how she'd do.

Her and Ava loved it! Ava was a little fish. Emma was in and out of the water.

She was more interested in playing on the ramp than actually getting in the water with Daddy.

She walked too far out on the ramp and decided to sit down and went under. That was enough for her. She was done swimming and decided she would just hang out on Momma's lap.

Her "accident" happened about 10 minutes before swim time was over so she got dressed and watched the kids from the window inside the party room.

Here's a picture of the birthday boy while we were singing Happy Birthday to him.

The girls sharing the cooler as a bench.

The Aquatic Center is right beside the park so we played at the park for a while.

COWBOY CHURCH

We've been spending Thursday nights at Cowboy Church with my cousin and her daughter.
Cowboy Church is a church that was started a couple months ago by a cowboy in an old sale barn. He started it for individuals who feel more comfortable in a sale barn than in a traditional church setting. I know, I know we are not cowboys but we went the first time to listen to some friends of ours who were going to be singing at one of their services and we've only missed once since. They have some pretty awesome services. Here's a picture of Emma from this past Thursday night. Her outfit looks more like a rockstar than a cowboy!

Most of the children (and adults) have on western-wear so Emma has to carry her cowgirl backpack... filled full of goodies to keep her quiet of course.

A DAY OF BEAUTY

Aunt TonTon gave Emma her second haircut today. She had her first cut right before her 1st birthday and she hadn't had one since.

She was so good. She sat very still on my lap the whole time.
TonTon cut about an inch off to even it out and get rid of some of her baby hair. Emma's hair is long so you can't really tell she had any cut.
Now we're going to keep letting it grow again.

THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING GOOD

The beginning of warm weather means the beginning of Tropical Sno!
I said a million times last summer that I wanted to take Emma to get her first Tropical Sno but for some reason we just never took her. So when I saw the light on top of the Tropical Sno shack flashing the other night we had to go.

Notice her Tropical Sno is BLUE. Lately Emma's world revolves around the color blue... she talks about having a blue birthday party, she will eat all the blue m&m's out of the package before eating any other color, she wants to wear a blue hairbow even though there is no blue in her outfit whatsoever, she will only color with her blue crayon, she will only drink out of her blue cup, she wants to wear blue socks to bed every night and her 2 pair of blue underwear... well let's just say every time I do laundry (which is every other day) both pair are in the load.

IT WONT BE LIKE THIS FOR LONG...

One day soon this little girl is gonna be

All grown up and gone

These days are going to fly by

So we've got to hold on

Cause it wont be like this for long.

Nickelodeon StoryTime Live

My girlfriends and I took our kids to see Nickelodeon's StoryTime Live. The kids were so excited (and so was I!)
This was Emma's first show. She had talked about going for weeks.
We had 2nd row seats.

And she was in a trance the whole show. Her eyes hardly ever came off the stage.

I can't wait for the another show!

Easter 2010

Our Easter started with an Easter Egg Hunt at our church the weekend before Easter. Here's a picture of Emma ready to go!

She was a little nervous with all the kids scrambling around looking for eggs. At first, she wanted to climb Daddy's leg...

Then Momma took over and we were on a mission.

It didn't take her long before she took off hunting eggs.

Pretty sure Emma's favorite part was opening her eggs to see what surprise was in the middle.

I could get on my soap box about how commercialized holiday's are and how so many parents use every little holiday to shower their kids with crazy gifts but I won't go there or did I just go there? Oops! It's very important to me that Emma knows the real meaning of Easter and why we celebrate that day. I mean for crying out loud people it's not their birthday, they're not the ones that died and rose from the grave 3 days later!

Quick story: On Good Friday I sat Emma down and was going to tell her the real story of Easter. It's a very hard story to explain to a 2 year old. I knew that she probably wouldn't understand but I wanted to tell her anyway. I started to tell her the most 2 year old appropriate version of the Easter story when she looks right at me, points her finger at me and says "Mom, wait a minute, I gotta get something". She goes into her bedroom and gets her Puggles bag. She pulls out a picture that she had colored of Jesus' empty tomb and says to me "I already know!". I know she doesn't understand the full story or even comprehend what was done for all of us on Easter (I fully can't comprehend it myself) but I'm so blessed that she's learning.

I really wanted Easter Day to be about the real meaning of Easter. So a few days before Easter Emma wrote the Easter bunny a letter (I know, I know, she's only 2 she has no idea) telling him that she would like for him to bring her Easter basket on Saturday because she had to be up early on Easter Sunday for church.

The Saturday afternoon before Easter Sunday Emma and I ran to WalMart when we got home and got out of the car we noticed that the Easter Bunny had been to our house! He had left "evidence" in the yard. She was so excited picking up the eggs that the Easter Bunny had left behind. She kept saying "Mom, he came, he came to my house!"

After we found all of his lost eggs we headed inside to see if he left her an Easter basket. And he did! It was hid in the house but it didn't take her long to find it.

She was so excited to see what was in her basket.

Easter Sunday we got up really early and went to SonRise service at 6am. I have no pictures from that service and it's a good thing because we were not looking our best. We did manage to clean ourselves up for the main service on Easter. Somebody knows they look adorable! I am so blessed.

Emma started King's Kids about a month ago. King's Kids is a program our church does on Sunday for ages 2-5. On Easter they sung for us. We had 40+ children in King's Kids that day.

That afternoon for we went to MawMaw Birds' to grill out and have one last Easter Egg Hunt.
