IT WONT BE LIKE THIS FOR LONG...
One day soon this little girl is gonna be
So we've got to hold on
Nickelodeon StoryTime Live
Easter 2010
Then Momma took over and we were on a mission.
It didn't take her long before she took off hunting eggs.
Pretty sure Emma's favorite part was opening her eggs to see what surprise was in the middle.
I could get on my soap box about how commercialized holiday's are and how so many parents use every little holiday to shower their kids with crazy gifts but I won't go there or did I just go there? Oops! It's very important to me that Emma knows the real meaning of Easter and why we celebrate that day. I mean for crying out loud people it's not their birthday, they're not the ones that died and rose from the grave 3 days later!
Quick story: On Good Friday I sat Emma down and was going to tell her the real story of Easter. It's a very hard story to explain to a 2 year old. I knew that she probably wouldn't understand but I wanted to tell her anyway. I started to tell her the most 2 year old appropriate version of the Easter story when she looks right at me, points her finger at me and says "Mom, wait a minute, I gotta get something". She goes into her bedroom and gets her Puggles bag. She pulls out a picture that she had colored of Jesus' empty tomb and says to me "I already know!". I know she doesn't understand the full story or even comprehend what was done for all of us on Easter (I fully can't comprehend it myself) but I'm so blessed that she's learning.
I really wanted Easter Day to be about the real meaning of Easter. So a few days before Easter Emma wrote the Easter bunny a letter (I know, I know, she's only 2 she has no idea) telling him that she would like for him to bring her Easter basket on Saturday because she had to be up early on Easter Sunday for church.
The Saturday afternoon before Easter Sunday Emma and I ran to WalMart when we got home and got out of the car we noticed that the Easter Bunny had been to our house! He had left "evidence" in the yard. She was so excited picking up the eggs that the Easter Bunny had left behind. She kept saying "Mom, he came, he came to my house!"
After we found all of his lost eggs we headed inside to see if he left her an Easter basket. And he did! It was hid in the house but it didn't take her long to find it.
She was so excited to see what was in her basket.
Easter Sunday we got up really early and went to SonRise service at 6am. I have no pictures from that service and it's a good thing because we were not looking our best. We did manage to clean ourselves up for the main service on Easter. Somebody knows they look adorable! I am so blessed.
Emma started King's Kids about a month ago. King's Kids is a program our church does on Sunday for ages 2-5. On Easter they sung for us. We had 40+ children in King's Kids that day.
That afternoon for we went to MawMaw Birds' to grill out and have one last Easter Egg Hunt.
