MORE THAN A BABYSITTER...

Today was Emma's last day at her babysitter's, Rhea, house. Rhea will no longer be watching kids. We will miss her dearly. Emma has went to her house since she was 9 weeks old. She loves all the kids there, they're like her second family. And unless my husband has lied to me, she has never cried when being dropped off in the mornings. That alone shows me how much she loves them. We were extremely sad when Rhea let us know that she would be quitting but we understand that she has to do what is best for her family. I know we made the right decision sending Emma there.

Rhea & Emma

Emma has made some good friends while she was at Rhea's. Zoe is about 9 months older than Emma. They are best buddies. They both share the love of shoes. Rhea once told me that as soon as Emma walks in the door they are exchanging shoes. Emma has also learned a lot from Zoe. When Emma says a new word or phrase most of the time I know she learned it from Zoe. Sometimes I'll hear Zoe say something and it sounds just like Emma, they are two peas in a pod. Before Emma leaves every afternoon Zoe (like clockword) will say "Huggy" and her and Emma will have to hug. Zoe only lives a few blocks away from us, we'll definately have to take stroller rides past her house to catch her outside and say hi this summer.

Emma & Zoe

(sorry for the quality of picture, not sure what my camera's problem was)

Zoe has a big sister. Her name is Emma. We call her Big Emma. She is a little mother hen, always opening the door when I come to pick up Little Emma. She also lets me know what Little Emma has been up to... good or bad.

Big Emma and Little Emma

Riley is Emma's other friend. He is Rhea's son. Emma talks about him non-stop. She calls him Ri-eee. You can expect to have at least 5 conversations about Riley with Emma each day. I will never forget one of our conversations about Riley. One evening we were driving back from Paducah and I was trying to keep Emma awake. I was asking Emma what she wanted to be when she grew up (like she had a clue what I was talking about). I would say "Do you want to be a doctor when you grow up?" Emma says "no". I say "Do you want to be a teacher when you grow up?" Emma says "no". "a lawyer?", "no", "a banker?", "no"... you catch my drift? Finally I say "Emma, do you want to have a bunch of babies and live off the state when you grow up?", she replied "Ri-eee". I warned Rhea and we agreed that these two should never date.

Emma and I sure will miss seeing these kiddos everyday.

WHERE'S EMMA?

Can you spot Emma?

And look who can almost wear a ponytail... I can not believe how long her hair is getting.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Today, we went to Great Grandma Golden's. She lives in Hardin county so we have to wait till we have a full free day to visit her. Today was perfect.

We got to see Uncle Mike too. Emma didn't have too much to do with him this visit. She would only get close enough to hand him candy then she was running away.

After lunch, we headed outside.
Then down to the farm...
to see the tractor.
Garden of the Gods is just a few miles from Grandma Golden's. We stopped on the way home for a quick hike and some sight seeing.

HERRINFEST 2009

I entered Emma in the HerrinFest photo contest. She won her age division and then overall winner as well. I was extremely excited that she won the overall winner.
We're carrying on the tradition, my best friend Penny's little boy, Talan, won the title last year. We hope that he was proud to carry the torch onto Emma. Next year we're passing it back to Talan.
Here's Emma in her cute little outfit before leaving to get her trophy.
Emma and Momma at the Herrin Civic Center after she received her trophy and savings bond.
Cheesing for the camera showing off her first trophy while enjoying Momma's lemon shake-up.

Pushing her trophy around in her stroller.

Here she is admiring her trophy and the winning picture.

Emma was invited to ride in the HerrinFest parade on Saturday morning.

Others on the float were the HerrinFest pageant king and queen and baby contest winners.

Saturday afternoon we went to ride rides. I wasn't sure if Emma would ride. She is very shy. At first she wasn't sure but as soon as the ride started she was in love. I think she would have rode all night. Drew and I had a blast just watching her.
